Rules


Participation

1.

This bicycle pilgrimage is a religious event that connects the passion of prayer with bicycle riding. It should be experienced through a spirit of prayer, mutual respect, kindness, brotherly love, and discipline. All pilgrims should base their behaviors on the Christian message of loving God and one’s neighbor.

2.

The pilgrimage also has a nature of penance. Pilgrims must overcome various unique challenges that each new road brings.

3.

The Pilgrim should take part in scheduled programs (Holy Mass, prayers, listening to conferences, etc.).  

4.

All kinds of banners, costumes, symbols, or images must first be approved by the organizers – it is strictly prohibited to use this pilgrimage as a way of propagating any kinds of ideologies not accepted by the Catholic Church.

Only the pilgrims with a Pilgrim’s Card are eligible to participate in this event.

6.

Parents or legal guardians must sign a waiver, which states that they take full responsibility for their underage child.

7.

All participants should have: a helmet, sunglasses, and a comfortable outfit that allows for free movement and can easily adapt to various weather conditions 

8.

Pilgrims should own an efficient bicycle with working brakes, a spare tube, reflective red glass, a bicycle horn or bell, and a water container.

Safety

1.

During the pilgrimage it is strictly prohibited to smoke cigarettes, consume alcohol, and take drugs.

2.

Every pilgrim is required to respect all forms of security measures on the road as well as in resting areas where they must obey all measures set up by the organizers and security team.

3.

Participants are fully responsible for any damages caused during the travel, as well as the damages during the pilgrimage
and resulting from their recklessness, dangerous riding or failure to observe traffic rules.

 

4.

Unacceptable behavior or failure to follow the rules may result in expulsion from the pilgrimage (without reimbursements).

 

Medical

1.

The applicant also confirms that they are in good health both mentally and physically, which will allow them to actively take part in this pilgrimage.

2.

Any potential health issues should be reported during registration.

3.

Organizers are in charge of making any changes to their established rules if any unpredictable situations are to occur.  

 

Other

  • During our travel we respect all traffic rules and we care about our safety and the safety of others.   
  • In the event of any health issues occurring during the travel, it is important to notify health services which will be nearby at all times.
  • Riding “without a stick,” ie. without both hands on the steering wheel is not allowed. Using cell phones while riding a bike is also not allowed.  
  • Every participant must take with them: a backpack with food and water, raincoat, a rosary, documents (state I.D., school I.D., insurance, and driver’s license), etc.
  • Discipline and obedience for the tour guide, who is responsible for the safety of their assigned group, is required.  
  • The pilgrimage route runs through public roads.
  • The journey will move through with designated speed and order. During the ride we must keep a safe distance between other bikes.  
  • In the case of a bicycle emergency, pull over to the side of the road and try to take care of the issue.
  • If there is a difficulty taking care of the emergency through immediate measures then a technical car will temporarily halt the pilgrimage and will remove the damaged bicycle.
  • It is worth preparing for the pilgrimage by taking a few rides (at least 1 hour nonstop riding). During the prep rides, the bicycle’s condition should be checked.
